3/30/2011 - Don't say seven words when four will do

Most of you realize by now I am a huge fan of movies.  One movie in particular that I am writing about is Ocean's 11.  Fantastic movies as far as heist movies go, and the cast is absolutely amazing.  Typically when there is such a large amount of talent, the movie takes a giant dump, but this one was a good one.

Regardless, this post is not about the movie, it's about the truth of this quote.  I have been listening to people pitch products relatively often, and one thing that I have learned is that you need to keep it short and to the point or you're going to lose your audience.

Day in and day out I hear people trying to talk up a product and 'convince' people how great it is.  Problem is, if it takes that much convincing, you're not doing it right.  And that's where the title of this entry comes from.

Time to get back to work!

12/30/2009 - Avatar

Ok, so last night I went with Cyn and her parents to see Avatar for my 2nd time.  And the 2nd time was just as amazing as the first!  Totally awesome!  Definitely one of the best movies ever!

EVERYONE MUST SEE IT!!!

10/6/2009 - Zombieland

Ok, if you didn't see Zombieland, you are missing out on a great movie.  Very very funny!  'The Movieman' who gives his 6 second reviews and weekly reviews on Z100 says that Jesse Eisenberg is the 'poor mans Michael Cera'.  He also said the same thing about him in the movie Adventureland (Movieman can be repetitive at times).  Doesn't make a difference to me though.  Jesse Eisenberg was great in this movie, his low key persona was perfect.  Honestly, I don't think Michael Cera could have pulled off a role like this.  Woody Harrelson of course was great as well!  It's nice to see him in the movies again!  He's always been a fun actor! Plus!!! GREAT cameo appearance by a great comedy legend.

8/24/2009 - Movies!!!!

These past 2 weeks have been awesome for movies!

On Sunday the 16th, I saw District 9 with dad.  It's a movie about aliens getting 'trapped' on earth because their ship ran out of gas (pretty much).  The thing is, many people may not have liked it because its not your typical alien movie (Independence Day, Fire in the Sky).  It doesn't put 'wonder' in your mind.  It's much more dramatic, and a quite excellent story is told throughout.  Gotta see it!

Yesterday (8/23/09), dad and I saw Inglourious Basterds.  OMG, AWESOME!  Quentin Tarantino is amazing, and his direction on this movie was absolutely stellar!  Everyone in the movie played a role, and everyone played that role very well!

1/25/2009 - Lion King On Brodway

It's now Sunday, but I just got home.  I decided to take Cyn out to dinner and a play for her birthday a week early.  We went to Benihana in Westbury, then from there we hopped a train from Mineola to Penn, and took a taxi to see the Lion King.

It was an amazing show!  If you have seen ANY Disney show, you know how they go all out on pretty much everything they ever do.  From the fireworks in the Disney parks, to the Disney on Ice shows.  Always amazing, and The Lion King on Broadway is nothing short of that!

Gotta get some sleep.  I've got movies and some work to take care of in the morning.

1/19/2009 - Movies!!!!

Ok, so the past few movies I've seen were pretty awesome!  I'll start with the most awesome, and work down to the least awesome.

Numero Uno: Gran Torino
Clint Eastwood as always was amazing, and the actors and actresses were pretty awesome also.  Must See!

Number Dos: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
As always (except for Burn after reading), Brad Pitt was great.  And Cate Blanchett was amazing, and is now much more attractive than I have thought in the past.  Great story, great acting, lots of awards going that way.

Number C: Defiance
Having a jewish background is what allowed me to enjoy this movie.  Daniel Craig was good, but Leiv Schreiber was amazing!

Sorry it's been so long, but I try to keep everyone up to date as often as possible.

8/11/2008 - Pineapple Express

Ok, so we went to go see Pineapple Express yesterday.  And let me tell you this, it is by far one of the funniest movies I have seen in a VERY long time.  I was laughing all the way through.  It started to get a little less funny towards the end, but then it got funny again at the very end of the movie.  I'm not a huge fan of the Judd Apatow movies that have been coming through recently, but this one is great!

3/26/2007 - More Movies!

Ok, so I saw 2 awesome movies this weekend.

First movie was Shooter with Mark Wahlberg.  Very good movie, I expected something good, but it was much better than I had expected.

2nd movie I saw last night was 300:The IMAX experience.  If you saw 300 in the average theater, it was awesome.  If you see it in IMAX, you will completely shit yourself on the awesomeness of this movie!

Ok, back to work.

4/22/2006 - The DaVinci Code

Yeah, this movie seems to be one that is stirring up some serious shit out there. I didn't read the book, but from what I am hearing, it revolves around Jesus having a relationship with Mary Magdalen.

Me, i'm not a firm believer in the movies. The movies just make me think, it might be possible. I'll entertain the thought for a few hours, then i'll let it slide.

The following article ( click for article on about.com ) gives a little more insight on this matter. Check it out. It's a very interesting read.

2/26/2006 - Must Watch Movies

Here are a few must watch movies. After about 2 months of movie releases that weren't all too great. We have 2 movies that are just that (great).

Movie #1: Madea's Family Reunion
This movie was hilarious. I saw the first installment, Diary of a Mad Black Woman (on dvd), and this one was just as good if not better. Tyler Perry plays a large black woman much better than Martin Lawrence in that crap they call Big momma's house.

Movie #2: Eight Below
This was just an all around great movie. It's great for pretty much anyone. If you are a dog lover at all, this is a must see for you.

I want a husky.

11/14/2005 - Movies

A few decent movies to check out.

Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen. Good movie, didn't get to see the trailer so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Zathura with Tim Robbins and Dax Shepperd from Jackass. Similar to Jumanji, but with much cooler effects, and similar plotline. Family in turmoil realize what they have after the game sucks them through another dimension. Always makes for a great movie.

Chicken Little was also pretty cute. Not my style, but Michelle loved it.

7/18/2005 - Wedding Crashers & Willy Wonka

Just like every Sunday I went to the movies again. Today was a little bit different though. During the day I went out to see Wedding Crashers, then I caught Charlie and the Chocolate Factory later that night.

Both movies were actually very good. Wedding Crashers was absolutely hilarious. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were histerical together, and there was a nice little cameo of a very well known actor (who I don't really care much for, but since he was in it very briefly, I like the movie that much more). Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was great. Get your head out of the mindset of a happy upbeat movie like the previous one made in 1971. The vivid imagination of Tim Burton really made this film amazing.

Back to work tomorrow. Good night.

5/19/2005 - American Idol and Team America

Down to the top 2! Sad to see Vonzell go, but Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood are also both excellent performers. I have a feeling Bo is going to win, although I want Carrie to take it home.

Yesterday I was teaching out in Port Jefferson and after I left work, I headed out to the Smith Haven Mall. Nice place, I haven't been there in a very long time. It's still shaped like a swastika, but it's a nice place.

Continuing on, I was walking the mall just to kill time, and I find this movie place with nothing but movies. It was called Saturday Matinee. Appealing place, expensive movies if they aren't on sale, but very eye catching. Well, looking around, and there it is, the movie I have been thinking about for months now. Team America: World Police. If you have yet to see this movie, make sure you rent it. And be warned, there is a scene where the puppets are naked.

I gotta get to work.

Brif list of movies you must stay away from whatever it takes:

I gotta try to get some work done.

12/19/2004 - Some People

Some people just don't get it. Especially the hypocrites. I've seen plenty in my time, and it seems as if they just start popping up from all over the place. Especially those that I never would have expected. Oh well, we deal.

Haven't had time to update. Working hard, and draining myself of any energy to do anything but that. Been a rough weekend. Heading out to movies in a few.

------ Quick Update ------

Just came back from Flight of the Phoenix. Great stuff. Ok, I go rest now.
